Contemporary Fiction from Thomas Nelson - 2010

Just found the Thomas Nelson Winter 2010 catalog online, and it's got a slew of books that look too good to pass up.

JANUARY 2010

Burn by Ted Dekker and Erin Healy

The past that Janeal thought had burned away is rising from the ashes.

Years ago, the Gypsy Kumpania where Janeal Mikkado lived was attacked by outsiders. With her best friend about to be consumed by a fire, Janeal had two options: try to save her friend - at serious risk to her own life - or disappear with the million dollars she had just discovered...

But the past quickly comes back to haunt her. Both the best friend and boyfriend that she was sure were dead have reappeared in her life, as has someone who knows about the money. There's a debt to be paid for the money she found, but there's an ever greater debt she must face - and if the chaff isn't burned from her own heart, it will consume her.

MARCH 2010

Greater Love by Robert Whitlow

No greater love hath man than this: that he would lay down his life for a friend.

As a result of her first-rate work as a law clear, Tami Taylor's been offered a coveted position as associate partner in one of Savannah's oldest and most prestigious law firms. Though her strong faith and convictions are valued by the firm's partners, Tami struggles to discern if God's will for her career is elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Tami must protect a young client named Jessie who is on the run from some shady characters. Her association with Jessie puts Tami in mortal danger. With her life on the line, Tami falls in love and discovers the power of romantic love forged by the activity of the Holy Spirit.

The Clouds Roll Away by Sibella Giorello

Forensic geologist Raleigh Harmon unravels in her hometown of Richmond where things are never quite what they seem.

Raliegh's exemplary service in Seattle opened the door for her disciplinary transfer to be lifted, allowing her to return to her home FBI field office in Richmond, VA. A civil rights case turns out to be much more complex than anyone thought when Raleigh is forced to go undercover in a drug trafficking case.

Things aren't any simpler at home. Raleigh's old friend DeMott wants her to find time for things outside her FBI work: friendship and maybe something more. Raleigh will have to rely on her sharpest skills - and the faith that is slowly returning to her - to navigate her way through these clouds.

Hand of Fate by Lis Wiehl and April Henry

When the host of a popular conservative radio talk show dies, the Triple Threat Club must narrow down the lengthy list of people who wished him dead.

Hand of Fate begins with a suspected terrorist attack, when outspoken radio talk show host Jim Fate is killed by poisonous gas while his show, "The Hand of Fate" is on the air. In the ensuing panic, downtown Portland is evacuated and FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges is trapped in a high-rise building. Crime reporter Cassidy Shaw is the only journalist brave enough to report from the scene as chaos overtakes the streets. And federal prosecutor Allison Pierce ends up rescuing a toddler separated from her family and taking her to one of the city's overwhelmed hospitals. In the days following Fate's murder, the three colleagues and friends team up to uncover the secrets behind it - and reveal a few secrets of their own.
