I don't believe I've ever heard of a Christian Fiction book centering around the life of a stand up comic, have you?
I saw the blurb for The Last Laugh by The Hafer Brothers yesterday at amazon.com, as well as a posting over at TitleTrakk.com Book News, and thought that this sounded like an interesting read. This is a humorous YA novel published by Thomas Nelson - look for it sometime around February 2010. According to the description, it looks like it will be quite a book.
About The Last Laugh:
Eighteen-year-old Drew Cody slides into his Chevy Cavalier and hits the road to pursue his dream of becoming a stand-up comic. He leaves behind stunned teachers, a worried church, and a heart-sick girlfriend named Virginia Jackson. Drew's decision hits his parents hard too-so much so that they are forced to actually speak to each other for the first time in years.
Encounters with unruly, alcohol-soaked audiences, dishonest club owners, quirky fellow comics, and amorous waitresses ensue. When Drew's agent pressures him to dirty-up his set to increase his popularity, he must decide if he will stay true to his core or succumb to the pressures of comedy's dark side.
About The Hafer Brothers:
Todd and Jedd Hafer previously teamed up to write Snickers from the Front Pew: Confessions of Two Preacher's Kids, which has now sold more than 150,000 units.
Todd recently left his position as Senior Editorial Director at Hallmark Books to devote his full attention to writing books, screenplays, and educational pamphlets about the dangers of hookworms.
Jedd is director at The Children's Ark in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a home for troubled teens, and travels the country as a standup comedian.
Be sure to check out some of their other titles, which include Bad Idea and From Bad to Worse.
