True Light by Terri Blackstock

About True Light:

Eight months into a global blackout, the residents of Oak Hollow are coping with the deep winter nights. But the struggle to survive can bring out the worst in a person—or a community.

A teenager has been shot and the suspect sits in jail. As the son of a convicted murderer, Mark Green already has one strike against him. Now he faces the wrath of all Oak Hollow. But the Branning family stands with him as he fights to survive—and forgive.

Who doesn't love a good suspense novel? I have been a fan of Terri Blackstock for years - she writes really great suspense. True Light is the third book in her Restoration series. I have enjoyed this series as it delves into a world without modern conveniences - a world without public utilities, grocery stores, and any communication beyond the printed word and word of mouth. In my opinion, this is the strongest book in the series - dealing with issues that we can't hear too much about - Forgiveness, Do unto others, What Would Jesus Do. Mark Green is a powerful example in this story of the nature of Christ - love and doing for others what they would not do for you. Throwing a little romance in with the story doesn't hurt it either. Altogether an excellent read - and stay tuned for book four - Dawn's Light. It's due out in Spring 2008.
