Annette Smith's Upcoming Book

Annette Smith's previous book A Bigger Life got rave reviews and I think it would be safe to say that I'm not the only one awaiting her next release.

About A Crooked Path:

Abandoned by his father when he was a boy, Manny Ortega has made the journey from Mexico to Texas to find work and support his family. Now in his midthirties, Manny works at the Eden Plain cattle ranch for Owen Green, a cranky, prejudiced man who suffers from a chronic illness. Yet over time, Owen and Manny forge a relationship that mirrors a father and son.
But their friendship is strained by the arrival of Owen's daughter, Chaney, as she and Manny fall in love. Their growing relationship reveals Owen's deeply hidden issues involving race and class, while a tragic accident threatens to shatter any hope of reconciliation.

The next release in the Eden Plain series, A Crooked Path, is a dramatic story that examines hot-button issues in today's world, including immigration and racism. Readers will be inspired by Manny's passionate pursuit of hope and a better life.

Look for it around late September/early October.
